There are three ways for our guests to reach Nanika Guiding. The first way is the fastest and most direct, this is by commercial aircraft from Vancouver (YVR). Vancouver BC is accessed by international flights from all over the United States and the rest of the world. Most flights into Vancouver can be booked to connect to the flight north to Smithers BC. Nanika Guiding staff will meet the flight and transport you to our base at Francois Lake BC, an 80 mile (129 kms) trip. We recommend that hunters coming from southern, eastern United States and overseas, should plan to over night in Vancouver or Smithers to get over jet lag and be fresh to take on the hunt ahead of them.

The second way is the way some hunters from Europe travel, that is to fly into Vancouver, British Columbia or Edmonton, Alberta and then rent a vehicle to drive to our base. This way the guests get the opportunity to travel through part of British Columbia and experience the country and people.

The third way and the most popular are by public road system. Many of our hunters drive from various parts of the United States to our base at Francois Lake. For the hunters from most of Washington and Oregon Sates, the best is to travel Inter State #5 freeway up to Bellingham, watch for the signs for the exit north to the Canadian border. The crossing is at the town of Sumas (Note: have your gun registry form filled out and ready for inspection, also have two pieces of identification and the Nanika Guiding Contract, if asked.) DO NOT have any hand guns or even any shells for hand guns in the vehicle, as you maybe searched) Once you are across the border, you will shortly come to highway #1, turn east towards the town of Hope BC. Travel to Hope and drive through town, you will be on highway #97 north. The #97 route will take you through many towns, to name a few … Cache Creek BC, Clinton, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, Quesnel and on to Prince George BC. In Prince George turn west on Highway #16 and travel on through Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and into Burns Lake BC. Then driving down the hill into Burns Lake, we will see a Shopping Mall on the left side, you will turn left onto highway #35 south as you would to get into the Mall, do not turn in unless you need to pick up last time goods, this is the last place before our base to buy fuel and junk food and alcoholic beverages. (Liquor Store is in the Mall) Then you continue on highway #35 South to Francois Lake. Do Not cross the vehicle ferry, stay on the north shore and continue to the west end of Francois Lake. There you will see the NANIKA GUIDING sign, turn right in front of the sign and drive about 50 yards and turn left onto my drive way, another 25 yards and your will be in our yard.

NOTE: the Canadian Customs will charge you $50.00 Cdn at the border for the gun registry

Hunters should stop at a Bank to exchange US money into Canadian funds for your travels in Canada.

Our road signs are in Kilometres, not miles.

On your travel back home, please do not display your trophy on the vehicle; many people do not like to see this.
