Nanika Guiding Atna Lake Operation
The Atna Lake Country is as wild as you can get. This is were a person can sit out in front of the cabin and watch Grizzly, Black Bear, Wolverine, and Wolf traveling along the beach of the lake and then look on the steep mountain slope to see Mountain Goat feeding on the rocky outcroppings. At the far end of the lake there are meadows reaching from the base of Atna Peak down to Atna Lake. The Atna River flows from the mountains down the length of the meadows to the lake. The glacial flow from the large glacier on Atna Peak produces milky green water in the lake. In the fall the salmon come from the Pacific Ocean to spawn along the beach of the lake. This produces an abundance of eagles and other birds that feed on the salmon that die after spawning.
We have a small cabin that sits on a rocky point overlooking the lake. The cabin has two rooms; one for the kitchen, dinning room and sitting area, the other for sleeping quarters. The cabin will sleep six people in the sleeping room and the cook sleeping in the loft over the kitchen. The kitchen has propane lights, stove, fridge, and a wood heater for warmth. The sleeping area has propane lights and a pellet stove for warmth and drying out wet clothing. This is the most rustic cabin we own.
We use this cabin and area to operate our Fly-in Wilderness Moose Hunts from, and for our Fly-in Mountain Goat Hunts. We have also taken some fall Grizzly and Black Bear Hunts in this area.
